kuwait 125 years

public art | PLACEMAKING

Our first project in the Middle East has been an incredible opportunity to collaborate across cultures. The mural is a collaboration between British artist peachzz and Kuwaiti artist Yousef Saleh [joe graffi] created in partnership with The british embassy in kuwait & the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters.

The artwork celebrates the connection between the UK and Kuwait in honour of 125 years of relations.

The vibrant mural located in the iconic Gold Souq of Al Mubarakiya market features the migratory hoopoe bird — a species culturally significant in Islam, while also occasionally spotted in the UK during migration.

Inspired by the British Embassy’s garden, the design incorporates native flowers from each country and floating pearls as a nod to Kuwait’s pearl diving history, beautifully unified through Yousef’s traditional calligraphy style.
